Welcoming our New Head of School

Dear Redeemer School Community,

We write with joyful hearts as we share how God has been kind and faithful to Redeemer School throughout this season of transition, prayer, and careful discernment. After conducting an extensive national search, the Redeemer School Board of Directors is united in joy, support, and gratitude to announce that Tim Hilliard has accepted the call to serve as the fourth Head of School of Redeemer School.

Early in the process, we identified the qualities essential for Redeemer School’s next leader: a faithful follower of Christ, a servant leader, a relational shepherd of families and staff, and a lifelong learner who embraces and champions the Charlotte Mason teaching philosophy and the other distinctives of Redeemer School.

Throughout our interview process with Tim, those qualities were clearly demonstrated.

We were deeply impressed and encouraged by Tim’s strong and proven leadership experience, as well as his remarkable humility, wisdom, warmth, and genuine love for Christian education. Tim brings a thoughtful and deeply relational leadership style, with a clear commitment to shepherding the families within a school community.  He also demonstrates a sincere appreciation for Redeemer School’s mission, culture, and theological foundation.

Tim brings to Redeemer an outstanding record of leadership in Christian education, with extensive experience in school leadership, teaching, discipleship, mentoring, and organizational development. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a passion for cultivating thriving school cultures, strong faculty support, meaningful parent partnership, and a deep commitment to helping students flourish both academically and spiritually.

Tim currently serves as Upper School Principal at Trinity Christian School in Fairfax, Virginia, where he faithfully leads more than 50 faculty and staff members and around 375 students.  Prior to his administrative leadership, he taught English, Literature, American History, and Shakespeare at the high school level, earning a reputation as a gifted educator and mentor. Tim earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and English Education from the University of Virginia, along with an additional master’s degree in School Leadership from Baylor University. His valuable leadership experience also includes coaching soccer, serving as a camp counselor, leading InterVarsity, and shepherding church groups, all reflecting a lifelong commitment to discipling and investing in young people.

We are thrilled that Tim, his wife Ellen, and their three children (the oldest is a rising Kindergartner) will be joining the Redeemer School community soon.

Tim will officially begin serving as Head of School in August, and we will share additional details soon regarding transition plans.  We anticipate hosting various meet-and-greet events as the school year begins so that parents, students, teachers, and staff can begin building relationships with Tim and the Hilliard family.

We also want to express sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in and prayed for this search process. This truly has been a community effort, and we have felt your engagement throughout every step of the process. We are thankful for the teachers and staff members, parents, and other community members who offered feedback, encouragement, wisdom, and countless prayers along the way.

Lastly, as previously shared, we are pleased that Loryn Faile will continue serving Redeemer School after taking a one-month sabbatical in July. We are deeply grateful for Loryn’s faithful leadership, steady presence, sacrificial service, and genuine love for our school community throughout her tenure. Redeemer School is stronger because of her leadership, and we are thankful she will continue helping shape the life and culture of our school in this next season. Additional details regarding her future role at the school will be announced soon.

Please join us in praying for Tim, his family, our faculty and staff, and the entire Redeemer School community during this transition.
