Acknowledging their God-given responsibility to educate their children, Redeemer parents have examined and agree with the philosophy, goals, and policies of Redeemer School and desire to have the school work with them in educating their children. In this vein, parents are asked to read For the Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay and Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Tedd Tripp and to affirm their commitment to a biblical view of parenting which includes:
• An ultimate responsibility to educate their children according to Deut 6:6,7.
• Submission to the authority of Jesus Christ, the leadership of the church, and the civil authorities.
• Regular practices of spiritual growth that include personal, family, and corporate devotion and worship.
Parents understand that the child’s teacher stands in their place during school hours and agree to bring any questions or concerns they have directly to that teacher. They also commit to prayer for their child, his classmates, his teacher, the school, and for their own part in serving them, including a responsibility of up to four hours a month to assist with various volunteer needs in the classroom and school.
Redeemer School encourages parents to model lifelong learning and to create an atmosphere of exploration in the home. Parents or others who are interested in learning more about Christian education, educational philosophy, or Christian parenting principles are invited to explore any of the following resources designed to assist parents in being the primary educator of their children:
